FINANCIAL AID:
For students and parents who would like help in completing the FAFSA, there are several FAFSA Completion events coming up in the region that are open to the public. These free, small group sessions will be staffed to ensure that families receive direction in beginning and/or completing and submitting the form electronically. *NOTICE! The State Grant Form (SGF), which is required to be completed and submitted by all Pennsylvania first time state grant applicants, is now interfaced with the FAFSA on the web. As of January 21st, students who complete their FAFSA electronically will automatically be led from the FAFSA Confirmation Page to the PA State Grant Form to transfer data and respond to a few additional questions needed to determine state grant eligibility. Help screens are available to assist students with this important step. Note that students are advised to print the entire state grant document and then wet sign the form’s Signature Page and mail it to PHEAA. Explicit directions are provided for this process.
Students who do not opt to complete the SGF immediately after submitting their FAFSA will be sent an email from PHEAA to do so or they may access a link to the SGF at __www.pheaa.org__.
Completing the State Grant Form is required for first time applicants to be evaluated for eligibility for the PA State Grant.

Epilepsy Foundation of Western/Central PA Scholarship- (Eight scholarships will be awarded: one $2500, one $1500, and six $1000 scholarships) Awards will be based on the quality of the student's application determined through a competitive scoring system that balances need with achievement. Community Blood Bank Scholarship-Graduating senior, blood donor or not, submit your name by May 18th to Brittany Yost: 814-456-4206 / byost@fourhearts.org. Each participant will have from June 3rd until August 31st to have as many people as possible donate blood or 2RBC's at the Community Blood Bank or a blood drive. Each student must have a minimum of 10 people sign-in to qualify for the scholarship. The student with the most donors will win the $1,000 (a check will be written to their college) and the winner will be announced in September.


Current Surfaces, Inc. Track Athlete Scholarship-Deadline: postmarked by April 25th of the current year. Must submit the application form along with one letter of integrity from a teacher /coach and a letter from a non-family member along with a copy of their most recent school transcript. 5. James J. DeDad Scholarship-
The Erie Chapter of Credit Union's DeDad Scholarship is available to our Credit Union student members! There will be (6) scholarships awarded from $500 to $3,000! A pretty penny to put towards their cost of attendance. Patrick J. DiPaolo Scholarship - The Patrick J. DiPaolo Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee is pleased to announce the awarding of the third annual student/athlete scholarships to Erie County high school seniors enrolling in colleges or universities next fall. Edinboro Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship- $500 opportunity/currently not renewable from among students at General McLane, Fort LeBoeuf, Cambridge Springs, and Northwestern High Schools. Criteria: must be a senior planning to pursue a bachelor's degree at a four-year accredited college/university, at least a B average, citizen of the USA. Edinboro McKean VFW Post 740 Annual Spring Essay Contest: 3 scholarships of $1500 each. Opened to any graduating senior with a demonstrated need for financial aid. Qualifications: 1. student must reside within a Borough of Erie County 2. The student must be accepted at a four-year college/university with a major related in political science. Erie County Association of Township Officials Scholarship-
Deadline: Application must be postmarked by April 27. 3 -$700 scholarships to three selected students of Erie County. General Electric Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund:

2. Erie Chapter of Credit Unions James M. Dedad Scholarships. Credit Union Members between the ages of 17 and 24. Scholarships between $3,000 and $500. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program-High school seniors who demonstrate exceptional leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply for the 2017 scholarship program. This program annually provides college-bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships-up to $40,000 total per recipient-and supports them as they lead and serve in college and beyond. Goodwine Scholarship Fund- you can apply online @ www.eriecommunityfoundation.org/for-scholarships.
Amount determined on annual basis. Eligibility: Graduating senior from Erie City or Erie County, PA High School. Criteria: Applicants must be pursuing secondary study in a two-year or less program. Must have 2.0 GPA or higher, Must complete essay on "What Role Education Will Play in My Future". Applicants may be asked to interview with the selection committee to assist in making their final decisions. Recipients must begin attending classes within three months after graduation or at the beginning of the very next school term following graduation and the awarding of their Scholarship. The Ruth Morton Harris and Walter J. Harris Scholarship-Due by March 15th of the current year. Applications can be submitted online or downloaded from www.comm-foundation.org. Paper copies available outside Guidance Office. This is a scholarship that many should check out!

HeadWaters Park – Erie County Conservation District Scholarship

Horatio Alger Scholarship-Receive up to $20,000 for college! If integrity, determination and courage describe you, you have at least a 2.0 GPA and require financial assistance ($55,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred--if higher an explanation must be provided) to go to college see us at scholars.horatioalger.org for an online application. Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program - Receive up to $2,500 to pursue career or technical education. Students may apply online March 15-June 1, 2016 at application.horatioalger.org.

House of Representatives Scholarship Program-four year scholarships to two high school seniors per year. Deadline: March 1. Apply online: http://www.tfec.org/wp-content/uploads/HouseOfReps_OnePageSummary.pdf.

Inter-Church Ministries Moral Leadership Award Scholarship - Educational scholarships to high school seniors in Erie County who have demonstrated leadership qualities, including: integrity, responsibility, dependability, character, positive attitude, moral leadership and service with a heart. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded. Application deadline: April 15, 2016.

Isabelle Christenson Memorial Scholarship-Requirements:Organ Donor candidate, recipient, donor family member, or immediate family member of a transplant candidate or recipient.   • Youngstown State University- YSU is offering the Trailblazer Scholarship Award to reach students whose cultural, ethnic, or socio-economic backgrounds are under-represented. The award amount is $2,000 and is renewable for 4 years ($8,000 total). The "priority decision" deadline for this scholarship is April 15, 2016. The application is available in the High School Guidance Office and also on the YSU admissions and Financial Aid web pages.
